Dr. Iain Kalfas is Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He graduated with a BS in Biology and Chemistry from Youngstown State University in Ohio. He earned his MD from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine. Dr. Kalfas completed his internship and residency at Cleveland Clinic. He completed fellowships in Neurotrauma and Spinal Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital, Cleveland Arthritis and Spine Center and Barrow Neurological Institute. Dr. Kalfas is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons.
He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is currently on the Surgery Committee at the Cleveland Clinic and on the Extramural Subspecialty Item-Writing Committee of the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Kalfas' clinical interests include complex spinal surgery and reconstruction including instrumentation and fusion degenerative spinal disorders, spinal tumors, and image-guided spinal navigation.
